Happy people have friends with flesh and bones
Here is a brief article that is interesting as it pertains to our relationships in our culture, and the difficulty of being missional in it.
The gist, unhappy people comfort themselves with television while happy people watch less TV and hang out with real people in the flesh more. This is another reason why I should never feel bad about rants against television or other forms of media which people use as diversion from real life. Still, I find it shocking that the AVERAGE number of hours people watch TV each week is 19, for "happier" people and 25 for unhappy people! That is almost 3 hours a day! So if you watch almost 4 hours of television a day and cut back to 3 you are likely be more more happy. Imagine how happy you could be if you didn't watch any!

This shows that we are all made for community and relationships with other people. It is necessary for a healthy and fruitful life. Few of us are truly not "a people person." We are all people people, personalities describe only the quantity and depth of friends you can handle. Some of us like a lot of friendships in small doses and others of us like a few friendships but in large doses.
Jesus came so we can live life to the fullest, John 10:10.
P.S. I think I watch 3 hours a week... about the amount of time for Bronco game. I am very happy, except for when they lose.

A Guy's Guide to Marrying Well
Boundless has put out a new resource called "A Guy's Guide to Marrying Well". I've read through it, and I think it is a great collection of short, practical mini-articles that encourage us to grow up, treat our sisters in Christ with respect, and to pursue marriage with wisdom. It is as simple as 1, 2, 3....
(Don't worry, neither I nor the articles in the booklet really think it is quite that simple!)
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD. Prov 18:22
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Prov 31:30 [Application: MARRY HER!!]

A Prayer for the President-Elect
In 1 Peter 2:13-25, we learned that, as aliens and strangers in this world, we are to show honor to our host country, including the head of state.
Please understand, at Regeneration we do not endorse any political candidate, whether Republican or Democrat or third party. However, we do believe in obeying the Scriptures, so in the spirit of the text that we studied on Sunday, I would like to offer the following prayer for Mr. Barack Obama.
[This is copied from Scot McKnight's blog.]
Our prayer today, Our Father, is for President-Elect Barack Obama.
Our prayers include:
That You, the infinite font of wisdom, might grant him wisdom daily.
That You, the loving God of all, might grant him love for you and for others, including our enemies.
That You, the holy and righteous God of justice, might empower him to do what is right in all that he does.
That You, the Lord, might grant him the charisma of insight to lead in this turbulent world and time.
That You, the Healer, might grant him the grace of reconciling damaged relations in this country and in the world about us.
That You, the God of Life, might grant him a commitment to act for all -- the unborn and born, the young and old, the civilian and the soldier -- to preserve life and honor that each of us is fashioned in the image of God.
That You, the Father, might grant him the time and wisdom to father his two young daughters and love Michelle, his wife.
And that You, the God of all comfort, might grace him and his family as they mourn the loss of his grandmother.
Lord, hear our prayer.
Through Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Announcing the Regen Podcast
In order to make the teaching from Regeneration's evening services more accessible, it is now available in a podcast. As far as I can tell, it plays nice with iTunes and should work with any other podcatching client that you might be using.
I should note that this is no excuse not to come to the services live and in color. There is a lot more that goes on in worshiping together with other believers than just absorbing information presented in a sermon!

1 Peter 2:13-25
I will try to post a sermon summary later this week, but I thought for now I would at least post a link to my notes. They are, shall we say, a little rougher than usual! Nevertheless, I know I am benefiting from our study of 1 Peter, and I hope you are too. Feel free to use the comments section of this post as a forum to continue discussing what we studied Sunday night.
